This is the parish church where Nicolas Rivard dit Lavigne and later his brother, Robert were baptized. Both emigrated to New France. The Roman style church was modified in the 16th century. On March 6th 1648 in Tourouvre, Nicolas contracted to work in Canada. He left from La Rochelle. Robert would follow him a few years later.I visited Tourouvre in April 2007.Ceci est l'église paroissiale où Nicolas Rivard dit Lavigne et plus tard son frère, Robert furent baptisés. Tous deux ont émigrés en Nouvelle-France. L'église romane fut remaniée au 16ème siècle. Le 6 mars 1648 à Tourouvre, Nicolas a signé un contrat pour travailler au Canada. Son départ fut de La Rochelle. Robert le suivit quelques années plus tard.
