Lorsque Mathurin Guillet fut tué par les Iroquois dans une ambusquade le 18 août 1652, un autre homme fut également tué et deux autres fait prisonnier. Le gouverneur a dirigé une expédition dans le but de venger cette action. Lui et ses hommes furent à leur tour pris dans une ambusquade. Plusieurs y perdirent leur vie incluant le gouverneur. Pierre Boucher devint le nouveau Gouverneur de Trois-Rivières. Gilles Trottier au lot # 9 acheta la terre sur le Cap possedé par Mathurin Guillet avant son décès. Sa petite fille, Marie Trottier a marié plus tard le fils de Pierre Guillet, Louis.
This early map of Trois Rivières shows the lot owned by our ancestor, Pierre Guilet dit Lajeunesse and his brother, Mathurin. Pierre Boucher was their neighbor at # 6. When Mathurin Guillet was killed by the Iroquois in an ambush on August 18th 1652. One other man had been killed and two taken captive. The governor here led an expedition to avenge this action. He and his men were in turn ambushed and several killed including the governor. Pierre Boucher became the new governor of Trois Rivières. Gilles Trottier at lot # 9 bought the land on the Cap owned by Mathurin Guillet after his tragic death. His granddaughter, Marie Trottier later married Pierre Guillet's son, Louis.
